Carrie Kalscheuer | Director of Sales & Education

Carrie began her career in the restaurant industry and decided to make wine her focus after an influential bottle of Amarone while living in Italy. She abandoned a promising future in Philosophy and today is a Certified Wine Educator and Certified Sommelier. Beckoned by the Pacific Northwest and its wines, she boldly moved to Oregon having never visited and fell in love with the outdoors where she runs, hikes, camps, kayaks and paddleboards as often as she can with her husband and dogs.

Mark Smith | Hospitality Manager

Mark is a sixth-generation Oregonian who spent his childhood on beaches or in forests. After studying philosophy and geology at the University of Oregon, he moved to NYC and discovered wine. After years as a Sommelier and Wine Director at Michelin starred restaurants, he felt called back to the rugged beauty of Oregon and his family.

Doug Rankin | Tasting Room Supervisor 

Doug comes from the restaurant world where he managed events and front-of-the-house operations at multiple Portland establishments. Doug has spent most of his career in hospitality and finds joy in creating great guest experiences. When Doug isn’t creating amazing guest experiences, he dotes on his backyard chickens and grows tons of veggies that he pickles, dehydrates & cans. Doug loves to cook and he also has a passion for board games, of which he has a self-attested ‘huge’ collection.

Jonathan Lampe | DTC Hospitality Lead

Jonathan originally joined REX HILL part-time in the tasting room to expand his knowledge of Pinot Noir and wine in general. Those weekend shifts intensified his passion for wine so much that he decided to leave his decade-long career in insurance and join the team full time. He has since become a Certified Specialist of Wine and has passed the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 3 Certification. Jonathan is happy to share interesting wine knowledge in the tasting room.

Emily Salko | Event Specialist

Emily’s career has forever been in the food, beverage and events world. As a Certified Sommelier, Emily strives to create balance between fine wine & delicious food for each event she oversees. When she’s not planning events, she’s venturing out into the forest with her partner (a local butcher) along with their daughter and eight-year old pup.

Kristina Hsu | Direct Sales Operations Coordinator

Kristina is a native Pacific Northwesterner with a love for all things wine. After managing a wine bar, working multiple harvests (including one at REX HILL), and a stint as a winemaker in Ohio, she moved to Portland in 2022 with her husband and rejoined REX HILL. Kristina is a Certified Sommelier and holds a WSET level II certification. In her free time you can find her on a trail, making maps, cuddled up with her old lady bulldog, or trying to perfect her macaron technique.

Lilly-Gray Warren | Winery Chef

Lilly-Gray is a born and bred North Carolinian. Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from East Carolina University, she went on to work as a chef in fine dining restaurants around the state. Over the last decade, Lilly-Gray has worked her way up in the kitchen, front of house, and in winemaking. She moved to Oregon in 2016 to pursue her dreams of working at a winery and starting her own farm. Outside the kitchen, she and her partner, Dustin, raise endangered, heritage-breed Red Wattle Hogs, ducks, honeybees and flowers.
