The 2023 REX HILL Jacob-Hart Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir embodies the exceptional conditions of the Willamette Valley. Powerfully fruity, vibrant on the nose and palate, the wine offers an elegant, expansive array of flavors – cherry, raspberry, plum, vanilla bean, dried nori seaweed, blood orange, nutmeg, star anise, mushroom, katsu sauce, violet pastilles and tobacco. Nuanced tannins, real density, moderate alcohol and vivid acidity play in tandem with enough fleshy fruit characteristics to balance the exotic savory notes. This wine is lovely in its youth but will be even more compelling with time in bottle.
