About the Artwork:
I saw Sam in his bright orange puffy jacket working up on the catwalk, plunging the sparging spear into the top of the tank, with dry ice gently flowing over the side. I took a quick pause from my cellar task to run for my camera, and jumped up on the front of the forklift to get the composition I wanted. The tanks dominate this image; Sam and his jacket pop at the top of the frame with a splash of color.
The strong symmetry makes this scene work; there’s a sense of scale given by the inclusion of the human figure, and a little mystery about how many fermentation tanks there are overall as we can only see one and two halves.
